What a Birthday!

Well it was my Birthday this week - yes I have finally hit the mid 30's and turned 34. Boy does 24 seem like so long ago now. Anyway Roslyn had to work in Brisbane on Thurs (my birthday) so she brought the girls down and Mum and I headed off to a in-door playcentre called Scallywags for the morning with the 3 kids. They all had a wonderful time - I have attached some photos for you to see. That night Jason came home early from work and the 3 of us took off to Fasta Pasta for dinner and I was impressed that our 2 year old son actually behaved himself quite well and we had a very enjoyable dinner - mind you he had pizza, chips and garlic bread for dinner so being some of his favourite things to eat obviously they helped to keep him behaving well. Then on Fri, Mum, Ros, the girls, Christie (my cousin David's daughter) and Lochie and I headed off to a wonderful coffee shop we have discovered down at Sandgate that does very reasonably priced (only $18) but awesome High Teas. They even gave the kids their own high tea and cup of milk for free which was lovely. We had a lovely time although it wasn't as relaxing as when Roslyn, Mum and I went by ourselves for Mum's Birthday back in Jan without 3 children but that's ok. We then took the kids across the road to a park and they had a wonderful time on the playground. We then had a family dinner that night which consisted of Fish and Chips - we're very food focused aren't we. Anyway it was a lovely Birthday all in all.

Our Big Boy is off to Kindy!

Well Lochie had his first day at Childcare yesterday (we call it Kindy for him) and he and I both survived although I think I cried more. We decided that it might be good for him to go one day a week to socialise more with other kids and also to maybe help his clinginess to me and give me one day a week with just the new baby and I (only 5 weeks to go until it arrives). We went for 2 playdates last week on Tues and Fri so he would be a bit familiar with the place and the ladies who will be looking after him. He seemed to enjoy it as they have trucks and diggers outside (and we all know that Lochie's world is complete if he has a digger or truck to play with) and more trucks inside to play with. He is going to Taigum Child Edu-care which was recommended to me by a friend and they have a huge outdoor play area for kids his age which is great as he loves playing outside. Anyway yesterday was the big first day so after going over with him a number of times what was going to happen and that I would pick him up after his sleep we set off with Nanna along for moral support for me. He was quite happy to go and went straight to play with a truck and then when I said I was going and would see him after his sleep he asked if Nanna was staying and I said no and he then wanted to come with us but I held it together (barely) and picked him up and said he would have a great day and handed him over to Michelle who is the Group Leader. We then left and of course I was in tears although at least he didn't see it. I was then very good and didn't ring straight away but they rang me after about an hour to let me know that after about 5mins he was fine and was easily distracted and was now playing fine and hadn't asked for me. I rang them after lunch and he had just woken up so we went to get him and he just came over very calmly to me with a smile and had a cuddle and asked to go home. They said he had cried when they first lay down for the sleep but they had sat and patted him and he fell asleep fine. He apparently then woke up later singing Twinkle Twinkle Little Star which they thought was quite cute. They even made him Star of the Day as he had been so good which is lovely and helps me to feel so much better about sending him there. Mum asked him if he wanted to go to Kindy again next week and he said yes so I guess that's a good sign too. So all in all a good outcome for all although I was exhausted after such an emotional day and all the crying I had done. Ah the life of a hormonal pregnant mother!
