A Day of Celebrations

Sunday the 10th of May - what a day - 3 celebrations rolled into one - firstly it's of course Mothers Day; secondly it's Jason and my 6th wedding anniversary; and thirdly it's our beautiful boy's 4th Birthday. Lachlan decided that this year for his Birthday cake he would like a blue Lorry Truck with 2 Trailers - AHHHHHHHHHHHHH the pressure. Anyway, Jas took the boys to see his Mum at Laidley for the day on Saturday so my Mum (Nanna) and I spent the afternoon creating this cake. After some technical problems with the icing not sticking to some places we were pretty proud of our finished result and by all the accolades that Lochie was giving us after he saw the cake - after of course making sure it had all the essential things like mud flaps on the back of all the trailers and hooks holding both trailers on - the time spent doing it was definitely worth it. We weren't even aloud to put candle on the cake as he didn't want them to wreck the cake so we put them in a lump of playdough next to the cake. We had Nanna and Grandad over for morning tea and then they came back with the Gittins Family and Uncle Steve for afternoon tea to sing Happy Birthday and then stay on for Lochie's favourite dinner - Fish & Chips! He said it was his best Birthday ever - I just have to stop Uncle Greg giving him ideas for his Birthday cake next year - he's currently suggesting a ute - I'm thinking a round cake from coles!

Making Memories

One of my favourite memories as kids was on the weekends, Mum would pack a picnic lunch and Dad would load up the car with the picnic gear and off we would head to many different picnic spots around Brisbane and surrounding areas. Sometimes we would head for the beach and other times we would head inland and go to the dams or bushwalking. It was always an adventure and has left me with many treasured memories. My Dad suggested that as a family we get together this Monday (being a Public Holiday for Labour Day) and head off for a picnic somewhere. We decided to have a breakfast picnic to miss the crowds and headed to North Pine Dam which is about 20mins drive west of our place. It was great to see lots more water in our dam after all the rain we've had and the kids had a great time playing on the two playgrounds there. We had a lovely breakfast cooked on the BBQ's and then played a game of soccer together. Dad had been bragging that he and Mum had bought a tub of Hokey Pokey Ice-Cream (a Kiwi speciality) the day before so we made him go home and get it and then all met back at Ros & Greg's House for lunch with the Ice-Cream for dessert. Hopefully this day will be remembered as one of our kids many treasured memories too.
