Another Birthday rolls by...

A few weeks ago I celebrated my Birthday - I've just been a bit slack about downloading any photos off my camera so my sister actually beat me to blogging about the day. I had a great day and was spoilt by my very wonderful family. Lot's of food was consumed (of course!), including 2 Birthday cakes - my wonderful and very clever mum made me a Butterfly cake that morning - yes I know I'm a bit old for a Butterfly cake but Lochie decided earlier in the week that I needed to have a Butterfly cake for my Birthday and he was going to make it. Jason looked very nervous everytime Lochie mentioned this as he knew that it would be him making it and I'm not sure he's even ever baked a cake -well not since I've known him - so he kept mentioning that he might need to talk to Nanna about the cake - of course Nanna came through and Lochie was so excited, he forgot that he said he wanted to help make it. The other cake was one Jason and Lochie got from the supermarket that morning - my very sweet husband wanted to make sure that I did indeed have a cake if Nanna wasn't able to make the Butterfly cake.

Big Boy Bed

My Baby Boy is now in a Big Boy Bed. I must admit that I did feel quite a bit of emotion watching Jason taking apart the cot and knowing that we may never use it again (not definite yet). Then seeing Zach sleeping in the bed was even more emotional. I was so proud of him. He did so well. He's only fallen out once but otherwise he's so far (fingers crossed) settled for both day and night sleeps really well. Maybe having a older brother who is already in a bed has helped as he wants to be like Lochie. My baby is growing up too fast!

Kids Day Out in the Park

Last Friday Mum and I took Lochie and Zach and my sister's girls - Ellen & Olivia to the Under 8's Day which is put on by lots of the local Kindergartens (including the one Lochie attends). Each Kindy that attends puts on a free activity for the kids to participate in such as kite making, face painting, bubble blowing (that was our Kindy), magic mirrors and wand making etc. and also the Police and Fire Departments also came with a Police car and Fire Engine so the kids could go up and see them up close. It was a beautiful day weather wise and we all had a great day going from activity to activity (luckily my very clever mother brought along a bag to carry all the craft that the kids made and with 4 kids it was quite a bundle of craft that we came home with), and had a lovely morning tea before heading home for a well deserved rest for both kids and adults. The day was even more special as it was the last play day that all 4 kids had together before the girls moved up to Toowoomba the next day. We usually see them on a weekly basis for a play and the kids have been playing so well together lately so the boys and I'm sure the girls too, will miss this time together on a weekly basis.

First Train Ride

I think I've written before about how we have some local steam trains that run once every month down at out local park. Lochie loves the trains and having rides on them and even doesn't mind the usually very long line of people that you have to wait in to get a ride. Well this time it was Zach's turn to have his first ride. He and I watched the trains go by as Lochie and Daddy stood in line (we didn't think Zach would stay in the line for that long as well without trying to escape so staying in the pram with me watching the trains was the better plan) and then I passed him over when it was nearly their turn. Unfortunately it started to rain when they got on the train and because we'd had to wait so long Zach was tired and ready for bed but he didn't cry and went ok on it and at least we can say he's had his first ride. I'm sure there will be many more in the future.

Clark Family Dinner

My sister Roslyn and her family moved to Toowoomba (2hrs west of Brisbane for those that don't know) last weekend and so the weekend prior my Mum decided that we should have one more family dinner together before they left. Pork Roast was on the menu - a family favourite (never enough gravy though - no matter how much we make!) with Pavlova to finish. The first photo is of the 4 munchkins before dinner watching a bit of TV so we could prepare dinner without any 'helpers'. Not a great photo I know but it's rare to get a photo of the 4 of them together so to take what you can get. After dinner they were running around like mad hatters - must have been the full tummies.
