Yesterday my Mum left with 6 others from her retirement resort to go on a 14day cruise around New Zealand. So my sister Ros and I decided to go with my Dad to see the ship off so the kids could wave goodbye to Nanna on her holiday. We all piled into my car - thank goodness for a 7 seater, and with very tired kids (the ship was supposed to leave at 2pm - right at the time that they all normally have their day time sleep) we headed off to the Brisbane River. We stayed in the car for a while when we got there as it kept raining every now and then and there was no fence near the edge of the river and Ros & I didn't feel like fishing children out of the river. Unfortunately other people who were there to also see their loved ones off, got a message from their family on the ship to say it had been delayed by 30mins. What to do - we went for a drive to see if we could find a park to play on but no luck so we drove very slowly back to the river, had a picnic in the car, watched someone launch their boat right next to us and then put on a childrens music CD (Wiggles of course!) and sang very loudly. We eventually let the kids out of the car and we watched the boats on the river until the ship finally came (Hooray said Dad, Ros & I!). We waved madly and Dad thought he could see Nanna waving from the ship through his binoculars so we waved madly to that person. We then got in the car and headed home with a very weary bunch - adults included! We were very proud of the kids considering how long we waited - we arrived at 2pm & the ship came by at 4pm.
We thought we were waving at the right person and after zooming in on the photo once it was on the computer we knew that it was Nanna that we were waving at.
